THE PAREEKS: Finding Community and Comfort in Looking Glass

Hansraj “Raj” and Neha Pareek moved into the Looking Glass community in 2023 after relocating to Denver in 2019. “We started looking for homes in 2020,” Raj said. “But then prices began to rise, so we took our time. Our main goal was to find something near shopping, in a safe neighborhood with a strong sense of community—somewhere we could truly raise our family.”

ASK A REALTOR: What’s Up with the Market?!

It’s officially spring! And that means the daffodils are blooming, nail salons are packed for pedicures, wasps are building nests and there is a flurry of homebuying conversation and activity. This is especially true for the new home community of Looking Glass in Parker, where builders say quick move-ins are ready and people are moving in!

So what’s happening with the real estate market in Parker, Colorado right now? Glad you asked!

What’s Hot, And Not…in Tile

When it comes to tile options for your home — from backsplashes and floors to shower walls, the colors, textures and pattern combinations seem endless. We went to one of the experts, Aye Scarsini, a designer at Decorative Materials, to find out the latest, hottest tile trends, what works and what doesn’t from among the options available to home owners in 2025.

MOVING TOWARDS COMFORT

When purchasing a new home or updating an existing one, fear of making trendy-now but obsolete-later choices can paralyze the non-designer. Aye believes that while there are definite trends and crazes you can follow when it comes to tile, any choice can be designed in such a way that makes them timeless. What matters most, she says, is how it complements or reflects your personal style and preference.

Nine Not-So-Obvious Home-Buying Costs

The cost of buying a home is a bit more than just the purchase price you agree to with a builder or seller. And while these aren’t “hidden fees,” they can surprise home buyers as the reality of closing on a new home approaches!

1. HOME INSPECTION & APPRAISAL FEES

Ordering a professional inspection is wise no matter what kind of house you’re purchasing. During COVID buyers waived inspections and appraisals because of rabid competition among buyers. But skipping either one of these can have expensive consequences.
