School is back in session, but summer isn’t done with Parker just yet. From a Latin culture festival downtown to a Bob Seger tribute closing out Castle Rock’s landmark concert season, an art festival that’s been going strong for decades, and one last movie under the stars, there’s still plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy the last real stretch of warm weather. FREE DAYS AT PLAINS CONSERVATION CENTER

Denver Botanic Gardens and the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District open the gates to Plains Conservation Center for a free day of prairie exploration. Wander the 1,100-acre shortgrass preserve, visit the 1880s homestead village and Native American tipi camp, and take in a landscape that looks much the same as it did more than a century ago.

TUNES FOR TRAILS / PERKS FOR PARKS: SANTA RIOS

Castle Rock’s beloved free outdoor concert series wraps up its third-Thursday run with Santa Rios, a nine-piece tribute act bringing the electrifying Latin fusion of Carlos Santana to life. Afro-Cuban rhythms meet blues and rock in a set that’s earned the band a reputation as “you can’t not dance!” Pack a picnic dinner, arrive early for a spot on the lawn, and stick around for food and drinks available on site. Donations support the Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation.

FIESTA PARKER

Downtown Parker’s first-ever celebration of Latino culture takes over the Parker Station North Parking Lot for a full afternoon of music, food, dance, art, and tradition from Mexico, Central and South America, and Spain. Expect three live bands, Lucha Libre wrestling, two dance showcases, 10 to 15 food trucks and vendors, roughly 15 marketplace and cultural booths, and kids’ activities including inflatables, face painting, and cultural crafts. A signature event of the Parker Chamber Foundation, coordinated by the Parker Latino Business Committee. General admission opens at 2:00 p.m.; VIP (21+) gets early entry at 1:00 p.m. with complimentary appetizers and drinks. Children 12 and under are free with a ticketed adult. Capped at 3,000 admissions, so advance tickets are strongly recommended.

ROCK THE MOUNTAIN: SUMMER WEEKEND CONCERT SERIES

Live music, mountain views, and the ultimate summer send-off — Rock the Mountain continues every weekend at the Outlets at Castle Rock with a rotating lineup of local talent bringing rock, blues, country, and acoustic favorites to the stage. An easy way to pair a little end-of-summer shopping with live music, running right through Labor Day weekend.

A DANCE WITH DEATH: A 1950S PROM MURDER MYSTERY DINNER THEATER

The Murder Mystery Company brings its interactive, sock-hop-themed whodunit to Parker for one campy, immersive night. Grab your poodle skirt or letterman jacket and play detective as the class of 1957’s prom takes a dramatic turn — dinner, theater, and a killer plot twist all rolled into one evening out. HD44 STREET CLEAN-UP: DOUBLE ANGEL ROAD

Join this monthly community clean-up effort along Double Angel Road, adopted and maintained by HD44. Orange vests and trash bags are provided — just bring your own gloves. Teens can earn volunteer hours, and it’s a genuinely nice way to spend an hour giving back to the place you call home.

POPCORN IN THE PARK: THE GOONIES

The Town of Castle Rock closes out summer movie season with a free outdoor screening of the 1980s classic The Goonies at the Amphitheater at Philip S. Miller Park. Family-friendly activities kick off at 5 p.m. — yard games, face painting, crafts, and photo ops — before the movie starts at 5:30. Bring a picnic or grab dinner from one of the on-site food trucks and introduce a new generation to one of the most beloved adventure movies ever made.

Every Wednesday of the summer, Jason Bower and Castle Rock Music bring free live jazz to Festival Park in downtown Castle Rock. It’s an intentionally low-key, pop-up style event — no stage, no vendors, no alcohol — just easy, relaxed music. Parker’s favorite summertime tradition wraps up its season with one final walk through downtown. Grab your collectible glass, map, and wristband at the Chamber office, then spend the evening wandering Downtown Parker tasting wine at participating merchant locations. Live music and exhibitors set the tone at the Parker Station Office Building as the evening kicks off. Must be 21+ with valid ID; advance tickets save money and are non-refundable.

Bring a camping chair, a blanket, and your best sing-along energy; a $10 donation to the evening’s featured nonprofit is encouraged but never required. ART IN THE PARK

The Parker Artists Guild’s primary annual fundraiser transforms O’Brien Park into a vibrant outdoor art festival, showcasing regional talent across ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber art, glass, jewelry, metalwork, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and woodworking. Presented in partnership with Parker Arts, the event supports art awareness, appreciation, and education throughout the community — a great way to meet local artists and bring home something handmade.

PASSPORT TO CULTURE: LOCOMOTION

National juggling champion and kinetic comedian Peter Davison brings juggling, unicycling, balancing, and acrobatics to Lone Tree Arts Center — while sneaking in real physics along the way. Newton’s Laws of Motion, gyroscopic action, center of gravity, and centripetal force all get a joyful, hands-on explanation in this hour-long performance built for families with kids 12 and under. Equal parts circus skill and science lesson, and genuinely fun for the whole family.

SEEDLINGS: CHEYENNE MOUNTAIN ZOO

Lone Tree Arts Center’s Seedlings series welcomes the ZOOMobile animal team from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo for an up-close look at animals from around the world and the important roles they play in their ecosystems. Little ones get the chance to meet real animal ambassadors and see natural behaviors in action — a great early-learning outing for the youngest members of the family.
