Distinctives of Douglas County Schools

Legacy Point Elementary School

Legacy Point Elementary School stands out for its focus on foundational learning and the whole-child approach. Ponderosa High School

Ponderosa High School is ranked in the top 20 percent of all schools in Colorado and serves approximately 1425 students. It is known for its close-knit community atmosphere and tradition of excellence, both academically and through extracurricular activities.

The school prides itself on a robust Advanced Placement (AP) program, providing students with access to challenging coursework and college-level material. Ponderosa is also distinguished by its Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, offering hands-on learning in fields such as business, health sciences, agriculture, and technology.

The high school has a vibrant arts program, including award-winning band, choir, and theater departments. Sports and athletics at Ponderosa are highly competitive, with teams frequently advancing to state championships.
