Andrea and Austin Ohlhauser weren’t looking for a new home. They were just driving around Parker with Andrea’s brother when they spotted the Looking Glass models going up south of Stroh Road. One walk-through later, thought, they were done for.

Austin grew up in Aurora. Andrea is from Southern California. Parker wasn’t on either of their radar — and Austin will admit he was nervous about the distance from the city. “He was like, it’s really far,” Andrea laughed. “But I said, this community is way too good to pass up. The school systems, the park across the street, the younger families — I didn’t think we were going to find anything better.”

The good news? They still think so. “Every day he comes home and says, ‘I love our house, I love our neighborhood, I love where we live,'” Andrea said. “It’s proven that way time and time again.”

What won them over most was the community itself. “We really wanted a younger neighborhood with families,” Andrea said. “And that’s exactly what we found.” Neighbors are in the same stage of life, kids are close in age to Grayson, and the friendships came quickly. “We put out the water tables on the sidewalk and all the kids come, and all the parents hang out. Neighbors offer to watch Grayson for date nights. One neighbor is doing another neighbor’s fence right now.”

Austin added: “We’re building those friendships. And the park straight across from our house — when Grayson gets older, we can just sit on the patio and watch her play. The trails go for miles. The rolling hills, the open space — it’s what Colorado is all about, and we really feel that out here.”

The Commute That Clinched It

Andrea is a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines, which made location more than a lifestyle decision — it was a practical one. “I said I didn’t want to be more than an hour from the airport,” she explained. Looking Glass delivered. “It’s 30 minutes — a straight shot to E-470 down Chambers. That was a big pro for us.”

Parker Has Become Home

In the months since moving in, the Ohlhausers have fully settled into Parker life. Grayson and Andrea are regulars at the library storytime and the splash pad outside. O’Brien Park and downtown Parker’s restaurants have become family staples. And the amenities at Looking Glass keep getting better. The pickleball courts are already a hit — Andrea’s parents play religiously, and the family has the paddles ready to learn. The community pool is on its way, and they can’t wait.

“The pool, the pickleball courts, the playground — it’s a huge benefit of this community,” Andrea said. “I don’t think we could have found anything better.”
