GLOBAL CHRISTMAS MARKETS

Come explore the Christmas markets of Germany, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic. We’ll peruse crafts and products sold at the markets, enjoy the beautiful architecture and scenery of various cities, and learn about many unique traditions and customs of these countries. Come and sing along to some familiar Christmas songs that originated in this part of the world. This SPARK! session will be facilitated by Maureen Holland. SPARK! is a free program offered in conjunction with the Alzheimer’s Association for people experiencing mild memory loss, early-stage Alzheimer’s, or a related dementia, and their family, friends, and guests.

PETE LEE

Pete Lee was the first standup comedian to get a standing ovation on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Soon after moving to NYC, he was selected to perform at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, where he was voted a standout performer. In 2008 Pete made his network television debut performing on NBC’s Last Comic Standing finishing as a semi-finalist. That same year, he made his television acting debut on the CBS Soap Opera As The World Turns.
Currently, Pete is a cast member of TruTV’s Greatest Ever and he hosts his own segment on Nickelodeon’s Nick Toons, in co-ordination with the NFL, called NFL Rush. He’s also a regular on TruTV’s Comedy Knockout and Comedy Central’s Roast Battle. And he starred in a documentary titled I Need You to Kill that is now available on iTunes and Amazon

WINTER NIGHTS AT THE MUSEUM

The stars are sparkling, the cocoa is steaming and the West Atrium and third floor diorama halls of the Museum have undergone a beautiful, holiday makeover. Denver’s newest holiday tradition — Magical Winter Nights — is officially here — a whimsical winter wonderland experience.

On the third floor in “Botswana” the starry-night projections depict winter nights over the African savanna. If you follow the sounds of music to the ice-less skating rink in the Birds of the Americas Hall, you can slip and slide around the rink in your socks! With lots of photo ops for families, before and after the aurora borealis light show, reflecting ponds, star constellations and a party with penguins.
WHISKEY TASTING AT THE CASTLE HEADLINE

Bring your bourbon drinking and single malt scotch loving friends together for an epic adventure into the rich and varied flavors of these two most loved whiskey styles. A perfect evening for the whiskey expert and the new-to-whiskey sampler. The tasting is a fun night out for friends, couples, and work groups!
Scott Beach will help ring in the New Year a few days early with skilled bagpiping, and stories of the escapades of whiskey-loving famous people! And everyone will celebrate a shared love of scotch and bourbon, in the amazing Castle environment.
The five tastings will be accompanied by heavy appetizers and a cash bar is available with wine, prosecco, beer, and whiskey specials.

THE NUTCRACKER

The Nutcracker returns to the stage for Colorado Ballet’s 65th season to delight audiences of all ages. This timeless tradition and audience favorite captures the festive spirit of the season, replete with mischievous dancing mice, sweet Sugar Plums, a symphony of swirling snowflakes, and Tchaikovsky’s beloved score performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

HANDEL’S MESSIAH w/COLORADO SYMPHONY CHORUS

A storied holiday classic returns with a freshly enriched design to experience the beloved masterpiece, Messiah. This innovative presentation is newly organized to present the narrative clearly while still maintaining the great musical traditions of this noble work. DAVINA AND THE VAGABONDS

Celebrate the season with a sassy holiday concert that blends blues, swing, and New Orleans Jazz. With a new spin on an old sound, Davina and The Vagabonds have created quite a stir on the international music scene with their high-energy live shows. Davina Sowers has been compared to Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, and, yes, even Betty Boop!
This rollicking quintet melds Sowers’ keyboard playing, with acoustic bass, drums, and a spicy trumpet and trombone horn section. The group’s focused, clean sound and emphasis on acoustic instruments are novel to both blues and jazz worlds and are sure to leave you feeling merry and bright!

KIDS’ MATINEE: INTERACTIVE WIZARD OF OZ

Watch out for the lions and tigers and bears, (oh my!) in the recreation of Dorothy’s adventure from Kansas to Oz. A professional actress, who plays Dorothy, will recruit willing audience members to “star” as her traveling pals and various other “Ozian” characters. Nobody gets left out of the excitement as everyone helps from their seats portraying munchkins, guards and citizens of the Emerald City.

GEOFF TICE: FAMILY-FRIENDLY COMEDY

Geoff Tice is a Denver based comedian, writer, podcaster, actor, and artist. He is a regular at the world-famous Comedy Works and has toured his upbeat, energetic style of stand-up comedy across the country. In addition to performing at festivals such as SF Sketchfest, High Plains Comedy Festival, Red Clay and Limestone—Geoff hosted Comedy Central’s South Park 25th Anniversary Tailgate two-day event at Red Rocks. Geoff has also contributed to The Nosebleed’s on UFC Fight Pass, appeared on Adult Swim and can be found in nationwide commercial campaigns.
He is the co-host of the Grid Penalty podcast. A weekly Formula 1 podcast that has been well-received and reviewed. Geoff also wrote and illustrated a hit children’s book, The Eleven Evelyns for his baby daughter.

NEW YEAR’S EVE WITH EDDIF IFFT

Comedy Works proudly welcomes Eddie Ifft for these special New Year’s Eve shows. Eddie Ifft built a 28-year career as a stand-up comedian, podcaster, host, and actor and is known for his fearless comedy style.
HIs specials include Live From Australia, Sweet Home Malibama and Man Child. Eddie co-hosted the pod-cast, Talkin’ Sh*t, and has appeared at some of the world’s most renowned comedy festivals.
Eddie appeared on Showtime’s The Green Room with Paul Provenza, Tommy Chong 420 Show, Chelsea Lately, NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and his half-hour special on Comedy Central. He has also hosted Shark Week, and guest-starred in FX’s scripted comedy Legit. The 10:00 p.m. show is the EXTRAVAGANZA with party favors, a midnight champagne toast and countdown with the comics.
