Summer Fun with Backyard Games

Whether you’re planning a weekend BBQ, hosting neighborhood kids, or want to get the fam up off the couch and outside on weeknights to do something fun, Prime Day deals (today through July 11) are a great excuse to shop online. Here are some games that will upgrade your backyard collection – and fingers crossed — they might just be on sale!

Next Level Cornhole

Level up your Cornhole Game with this Coney Island Arcade Style Cornhole set. The scoring is the same, but now you get to test your tossing skills in high-scoring game play with multiple holes, bouncing, and bean bag-knocking fun. Bounce, Smash, Spike and Spin

Spikeball  is a fun game for both adults and kids. While it’s a little like volley ball, it might take a little practice before you can keep a rally going like this one. This game comes with a Spikeball ball, Spikeball net, drawstring bag, and rulebook to use if you’re into that sort of thing! You can set up your Spikeball game set and play on any surface, whether it’s grass, sand, or indoors, or even take it camping. One team serves to the other to start and players can have up to three alternating touches to return the ball to the net. The net is like a mini-trampoline and the object is to make tosses, spikes and slams to the net to try and put it somewhere their opponents aren’t.

And while Spikeball the original Shark Tank entry retails for $63.99, a version called Slammo can be had for $39.99. 

Another Shark Tank contender based on the game of Pickleball, is PaddleSmash. It’s a little like Spikeball except with paddles and the net on this game surrounds a plastic “court” base. The base doubles as the game’s carrying case and when set up for play, looks a little like an upside-down umbrella. In addition to the net the game comes with four paddles and two pickleballs and can be set up anywhere you feel like playing. Teammates stand opposite one another and each player is allowed two consecutive hits. This game sells for a pricey $199 with the paddles and $159 without – if you’re already one of the millions of people who have their own! 

Table Tennis on a Trampoline

Speaking of paddles, here’s another portable game with paddles called Trampoline Pong. What will they think of next?! The table is not full size which makes it perfect for kids, but adults can try their hand at the bounce, smash have-a-blast game, too. This is ping pong with specially weighted balls, on a table with a mesh “trampoline” surface. And while it’s great fun for a couple of friends or family members, the table is constructed so that even one person can play Trampoline Pong by themselves! Retails for $69.99.

And finally, while there are plenty of badminton games on Amazon – some probably on sale during Prime Days – there’s only one Jazzminton Sport! It’s yet another competitive paddle ball game that families can play for hours. Similar to Pickleball, Tennis, Badminton and Table Tennis but with a *hole* new spin on it, literally! The birdies slow as they spin making every hit within reach, allowing for long rallies that will have you sweating and getting those competitive juices flowing. The birdies were created so they can’t fly too far away or out of reach. Even the hardest hits are playable. Think professional badminton where the rallies can be long and crazy. And with a 7’ structure that you hit the birdie THROUGH, you can play this indoors, too – but outdoors is way more fun. Retails for $199.
