It is officially mid-May, the week after Mother’s Day, and you know what that means? Time to get out your sticks, dust off your (golf) balls, and head to the nearest golf course! The new home community of Looking Glass is near all sorts of options for golfing near Parker. From public golf courses to semi-private and exclusive, the location of this master-planned community is close to some of the best courses in Colorado.
COLORADO GOLF CLUB , 8000 Preservation Trail, Parker | 303-840-5400

Nearest and dearest (and private and exclusive!) is the Colorado Golf Club. A member-owned and operated club, this 1700-acre course was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw and features a challenging 18-hole championship venue. Some of the tournaments hosted here include the Senior PGA Championship, Solheim Cup and the U.S. Amateur and USGA Mid-Amateur Championships.
Members enjoy stunning Rocky Mountain scenery and a par-4 on the 10th hole that lays downhill off the tee to a green hanging on a slope and without a single bunker. Some say that hole sets the tone for Coore and Crenshaw’s finest example of how to imagine a five-star golf course from seemingly ho-hum geography. These designers ran fairways across scenic sagebrush hillsides and ponderosa pine timberlands and positioned greens on buttes and the far sides of rugged gullies to create an extraordinary golfing experience.
The nine-hole Coore & Crenshaw Short Course tests your scoring game with a scenic collection of shots ranging from 70 to 175 yards. This course also lets families enjoy the game in a relaxed setting, but it delivers a reasonable challenge for when you need a golfing fix in the afternoon.
Entry fees for membership into the Colorado Golf Club are six figures with annually-escalating monthly dues, so you’ll need to be or accompany a member to play this coveted course.
